International field day of Conservation Agriculture, organized within the Life+ Climagri project, receives recognition of COP22 in terms of fighting against climate change010.

The International Field Day on Conservation Agriculture is supported by Conference of the Parties (COP 22), the body that makes the ultimate decisions of the Framework Convention of the United Nations on Climate Change and will hold its next meeting in Morocco during the month of November 2016, recognizing the effectiveness of Conservation Agriculture in mitigating climate change.

Recognition granted by the COP22 reinforces the role that Conservation Agriculture has on climate change mitigation and adaptation of crops to climate scenarios that may arise in the future. It shows, on the one hand, the interest and commitment of the Spanish Association for Conservation Agriculture Living Soils (AEACSV), as the organizer of the event, to the fight against climate change through projects such as the LIFE + Agricarbon or LIFE + Climagri and, on the other hand, the recognition of the COP22 Steering Committee that the topics addressed in the conference help to fulfill the objectives of the global environmental agreements about the fight against climate change.

The "El Pozo" farm, where the International Field Day on Conservation Agriculture within the LIFE + Climagri project will be held, is an example of using agricultural practices to mitigate climate change, such as tillage, which effects on an increase in carbon sequestration and reduction of greenhouse gases emissions are abundantly demonstrated, and can be an important part in achieving objectives of Spain before the COP22 which will be held in Morocco or in the framework of initiatives such as the one led by the French Government on the 4x1000.

In recent years, Spanish Association for Conservation Agriculture Living Soils (AEACSV) has actively collaborated with the Spanish Office for Climate Change, offering advice and sharing the results achieved in projects such as the LIFE + Agricarbon. That means that Conservation Agriculture, as mean of mitigation and adaptation of crops to climate change, has had a solvent and proven technical support when included in the Roadmap for the diffuse sector to 2020, done by its company, for reducing emissions in a broad range of sectors, within the Low Carbon Development Strategy, or when its benefits in the Emission Inventories and Projections of Air Quality Pollutants controlled by the UN team, were recognized.
